Baseball falls; gymnastics set for NCAAs

The LSU baseball team took the fifth against Kentucky on Friday night — and it cost the Tigers dearly.

LSU dropped a wild 13-10 decision to UK at Alex Box Stadium potentially leaving the Tigers in a frustrating draw for the second straight SEC weekend. That's because Saturday's series finale is in serious jeopardy because of the threat of rain. The tireless Leah Vann also tells you the secret behind those high-tech watches players wear these days and also has a feature on Gavin Dugas.

Barring a rain and wind-caused leak in the roof at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas (like in the SEC women's basketball tournament), the LSU gymnastics team will take its most improbable shot at the program's first NCAA championship in the final known as "Four on the Floor."

I promise you I had nothing to do with that name.

The Tigers won their semifinal on Thursday but will be a big underdog against the other finalists: Utah, Oklahoma and Florida (which LSU beat in the semifinal). The NCAA final begins at 3 p.m. on ABC. We also have capsules on the LSU gymnasts who will be trying to bring home the title.

The game outside the game known as the transfer portal keeps rolling on, as LSU men's basketball picked up a transfer from Nevada center Will Baker. Meanwhile, another Tiger has entered the portal. Our Wilson Alexander also evaluates where the LSU football team stands as the transfer portal opens.

'Tis the season for golf, and the LSU women's golf team is championship form. The Tigers, seeking to repeat as SEC champions, earned the No. 1 seed in the stroke play portion of this year's tournament will take that seeding into match play against No. 8 Ole Miss on Saturday. Match play is notoriously fickle, but the Tigers have the talent to win.

Finally, LSU track and field has a star to add to your Tiger constellation: distance runner Michaela Rose. She blazed to the second-fastest 800-meter time in collegiate history Friday at a meet in Azusa, California.

Hope your weekend is not too soggy, and doesn't fly by like Michaela Rose running the 800.
