Everything happening in Toronto real estate this week

FEBRUARY 25, 2025

Dear reader,

Bathurst’s downtown stretch has always had good bones. Lots of heritage architecture (if a little run-down), a streetcar connecting the subway to a GO station (if a little slow) and a first-rate hospital in Toronto Western (no complaints there). It just needed some TLC to reach its potential.

Walk along Bathurst today and it’s booming. Luxury hotels, condos you might expect to see in Miami, a new station for the Ontario Line and a resurgent Mirvish Village, which will soon unveil more than 900 new rental units along with oodles of neighbourhood amenities.

Private residences are stepping up too. Curb Appeal’s top post this week is a recently face-lifted Victorian with two wet bars, an EV charger and a shiny basement that can be rented out. But, as usual, it’s the location that makes this property extra special. It looks directly onto Alexandra Park, with its grassy fields, mature trees, library, hockey rink and basketball court—a Bathurst treasure that I hope never changes.

Also in today’s newsletter: $12,000 a month for a Grey County rental sitting on 100 acres. And a Bedford Park blockhouse with a vacuum elevator. For all of our real estate coverage and more, visit torontolife.com or subscribe to our print edition.

HOUSE OF THE WEEK: PARK-SIDE PRIDE

A recently renovated three-plus-one-bedroom, four-bathroom detached, sandwiched between two of Toronto’s most bustling neighbourhoods: Trinity-Bellwoods to the west and Kensington-Chinatown to the east. The two-storey home includes a backyard with a two-car garage and a finished basement with a private entrance. It’s within walking distance of Toronto Western Hospital, the many bars and restaurants along Dundas, and five streetcar lines.

SURREAL ESTATE

What cube off Glencairn would be complete without a heated driveway, seven bathrooms, a dry sauna, a theatre, a saltwater pool in the backyard, gold everywhere and a fitness room lit like a King West nightclub?
