Baton Rouge mayor fires two top staffers

Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome has abruptly parted ways with two high-ranking officials in her administration. The departure of the parish's purchasing director and environmental services director caught members of the Metro Council off guard, and some of them expressed concerns about why the two were let go.

Why is the Baton Rouge Police Department making some officers sign non-disclosure agreements? Department leaders say it's a way to make clear what officers cannot talk about publicly — for example, information that could compromise active investigations.
