A Baton Rouge teen's dreams cut short

with Matthew Albright | Assistant metro editor

Good morning! Here are some of our best reads from yesterday.

Mjireyae Addison, 18, played the tuba and was a catcher at McKinley High School. He dreamed of going to Prairie View A&M University.

Last weekend, those dreams died when he was shot and killed.

We looked at what the community lost with Addison's death, which is just the latest in a spike in shootings that have killed teenagers.

Remaking Louisiana public schools?

State legislators have sponsored a host of bills aimed at changing how Louisiana public schools work.

Some want to create "education savings accounts," where parents get the money that would have gone to their public school to direct their education as they see fit. Here are some of the most eye-catching proposals.
