Good morning. Temperatures will be in the low 20s to mid-50s from north to south, with light snow in the north and partly cloudy skies to the south. Here's what we're talking about in Maine today.

• Matt and Jason Tardy have hurled fire, axes and bowling pins at each other as a living for 26 years. They’ve never had day jobs. Thousands of people have watched them perform all across the United States, on national television and three times at the White House. Now, they’re facing their biggest challenge yet — and they’re doing it the same way they’ve done everything else: together.

• It was September 1814. After fighting Napoleon’s vast armies in Europe for almost 20 years, the seasoned English soldiers knew their business and went about it with little fuss. Equipped with bayonet-tipped muskets, they moved uphill in their neat, orderly ranks, presenting an inviting target for the militiamen.

  Although they held the high ground on Academy Hill, the local militiamen swallowed hard when they saw the bayonets, the scarlet jackets, and the ease with which the British regulars fell into line.

• Oil refineries, megadams, sugar beet crops and vast “natural preserves” at one time or another came close to reshaping Maine as we know it.

Tall ships will visit the Penobscot River for the first time in 36 years this summer

• As part of the Four Port Loop, tall ships and other watercraft will visit the Penobscot River ports of Bangor and Brewer, Bucksport, Castine and Searsport from July 8-14. It's part of Maine Bicentennial celebration, and organizers hope the tall ships' visits will continue each year.

• The recovery home in Machias has been years in the making in a county that has been hard hit by opioid overdose deaths. Washington County has had the highest rate of opioid overdose deaths in the state in recent years, and the number of overdose deaths appears to be on the rise.

• While past rebounds can't predict what will happen now, Camden National Wealth Management said that the S&P 500 rose 9.27 percent on average after various outbreaks over the past 40 years. Those include SARS, avian flu, swine flu, ebola and zika viruses.

• Looking at the inspiration behind his most popular play -- “Almost, Maine” -- playwright and Broadway actor John Cariani often remembers something that fellow Aroostook County native and novelist Cathie Pelletier once told him. “She said, ‘You write about the first 20 years of your life over and over because that’s when you learn the most in your head and in your heart’,” said Cariani, a 1987 graduate of Presque Isle High School.

• Road projects in Aroostook County will have the highest estimated cost of any county in the state this year, according to data obtained from the Maine Department of Transportation. Penobscot and Cumberland counties come in second and third, respectively.
