KQED's summer food guide!
Or at least a version of it in the Bay Area? If this newsletter is new to you, youāre receiving it because youāve clicked on articles from the food team in past On KQED newsletters (or enjoyed our last one), and we think you might be interested in an email dedicated to news about the food industry! This will be a seasonal newsletter, but, if youāre interested in more, subscribe to our list here so youāll never miss a thing. The first day of summer is June 21 even though it sometimes doesnāt feel like summer in San Francisco until September. However, I AM pretty excited about the mental transition to summer and to start celebrating all the things we associate with it food-wise: barbecues, summer fruits and veggies, beach trips and spritzers (just not Aperol Spritzes, donāt @ me). For anyone that wants to camp but hates getting dirty, summer might also be a great time to try out glamping! I just went last week where I had matcha marshmallow sāmores for the first time and now I canāt go back to regular chocolates in sāmores ever again. | Matcha Marshmallow and Reese's Cup S'mores | You might have noticed that our James Beard Award-winning television show, Check, Please! Bay Area! is taking a little break (weāre back in September), but, in the meantime, our Celebrity Chefs digital series has returned (first new recipe is by the amazing Preeti Mistry). We also have tons of recipes, guides, and community spotlights from the Bay Area and beyond to share with anyone who loves food...and, really, who doesnāt love food? If you have questions, comments or just want to say hi, you can always email me (unless itās about Aperol Spritzes)! And now...on to the main course. | |
