Business Meeting with HCMC People's Committee

Ian Gibbons, the British Consul-General, and BBGV members met with Mr Le Thanh Liem,Vice Chairman of the Municipal People’s Committee, and the heads of a number of City Departments on 13 December. The meeting noted that relations between HCM City with the UK are developing well and opening up new cooperation opportunities.

Following a presentation by the Department of Planning and Investment on the key issues for the future development of the City, Mr Le Thanh Liem confirmed that the City wants to continue cooperation with British businesses and investors during it’s development process.

Ian Gibbons spoke highly of the City’s efforts to date to develop the investment climate, which have significantly helped to attract British business and investment.

The City and representatives of the British Business Group discussed a range of issues, including tax policy, infrastructure development and high-quality personnel training.

Vice Chairman Liem agreed that further interaction should take on a regular basis between British Businesses and the City with the first meetings being about infrastructure and tax.
