British Business Group Vietnam
Dear achternaam,
Dear valued members,

Your generosity and support have continued to be the key ingredients to our success in 2017. So this New Year we wish to thank you for all the cooperation and hope to continue the association for a long time to come.

As we enter 2018, BBGV would like to inform members and congratulate the BBGV Chairman Ken Atkinson on receiving his Vietnamese citizenship. The confirmation was received over the Christmas period and Ken is rightly proud of being granted his citizenship after many years being committed to living and working in Vietnam. Ken is one of a very small group who through the process was also permitted to retain his British Citizenship and so now has dual nationality. Ken took the Vietnamese name of Pham Kien Son for his Vietnamese citizenship though we are sure that to all of us he will continue to be remain known as ‘Ken’.

In addition, 40 years ago, British Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Ian Gibbons started his first day at work for the UK Government. We would like to congratulate Mr. Gibbons on reaching this career milestone and thank him for his support to the BBGV in his recent posting to Vietnam.

On a separate note, please be aware that as of December 2017, the Vietnamese authorities have advised that British issued International Driving Permits (IDPs) are not accepted in Vietnam. If you want to drive a car or motorcycle in Vietnam, you’ll need to get a Vietnamese driving licence. A Vietnamese driving licence can only be issued to a foreign national in possession of a Vietnamese visa valid for 3 months or more. Applications for a Vietnamese driving licence can be made at the local offices of the Department of Public Works and Transportation. You should also ensure you have third-party insurance as required by Vietnamese law.

BBGV wishes you all a very safe and Happy New Year for 2018. We look forward to seeing you at the upcoming events we are organized on your behalf throughout the year.
