Dear achternaam,
BBGV Executive Director, Peter Rimmer was invited to represent BBGV at a meeting this week being held between EuroCham and the HCMC People’s Committee including Chairman Nguyen Thanh Phong.

The meeting raised some key important issues with Chairman Phong including the environmental challenges and the need for improved waste transfer and management.  The need to produce clean energy being integrated into the provision of new buildings was also hightlighted.  Other items discussed included the development of HCMC into a Smart City and the opportunities that could be provided via PPP and HiTec developments.

Chairman Phong responded by outlining some of the current plans being implemented and challenges HCMC is facing. He explained that with a total population of 13m which is continuing to grow the infrastructure of the City is clearly under strain to cope. The need for an improved public transportation system was a priority to be addressed. In reference to Smart Cities, HCMC was currently considering the provision of data, cyber, assimilation and operations centres. Key areas for future cooperation with foreign companies included Engineering, ICT, Food Processing, Urban Transportation, Banking and Environmental Protection. Chairman Phong looked forward to further and closer cooperation between HCMC and Foreign companies based in the city and, those companies looking for new opportunities here.
