Outlook for 2019 – Business is GREAT On Wednesday 6th March 2019, at Caravelle Saigon hotel, the British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) organised the “Outlook for 2019 – Business is GREAT” in order to highlight UK’s expertise in various different business sectors. The event was well attended with around 130 interested participants. Speaking at this event, Mr. Ian Gibbons, HM Consul General to Ho Chi Minh city welcomed the guests and reported that the “Business is GREAT” is a part of the GREAT Campaign, which is the UK Government’s most ambitious international promotional campaign, uniting the efforts of the public and private sector to generate jobs and growth for Britain and its country partners. This campaign also contributed to the marking of the 45th years of diplomatic relationship between Vietnam and UK. The “Outlook for 2019 – Business is GREAT” consisted of 6 different presentations on the economic outlook and businesses’ vision in 2019 with specific reference to: FMCG market – presented by Mr. Phil Worthington, Managing Director of Kantar Millward Brown Education vision in 2019 - presented by Mr Stewart Utley, British University Vietnam Macroeconomic outlook for 2019 – presented by, Mr. Pham Hong Hai CEO of HSBC “The shift to Ecommerce, including the challenges and opportunities” presented by Mr Dean Rolfe - partner in Tax and Head of MNC at KPMG Tourism and Hospitality Outlook for 2019 – presented by Mr. Kenneth Atkinson – Executive Chairman of Grant Thornton Vietnam HR and Salary guide in 2019 – presented by Mr. Adrien Bizouard, Country Manager – Robert Walters Vietnam Each presentation was followed by several questions from the audience. The event, also provided a panel discussion on “The opportunities and challenges, for doing business in Vietnam, presented by Industry 4.0” participation, moderated by Mr Ken Atkinson included, Mr Neil McGregor– Managing Director of Savills Vietnam, Mr. Mai Quang Tri, Chief Representative of Atkins and Mr. Stewart Utley of British University Vietnam also received a lot of interests from attendees. Mr Kenneth Atkinson, Chairman of the British Business Group Vietnam closed the event referring to the potential in the dynamic British community in Vietnam which had a huge amount to offer for future collaboration in various fields such as, world-class education, tourism, service industries including the financial sector, ground breaking research, high technology, and the energy sectors.
