BCAM participates in the AXA Health Days event with an article about the project Early Prognosis of Covid-19 infections by Machine Learning
Santiago Mazuelas, Ramón y Cajal researcher at BCAM, has contributed to the Axa Healthy Days event with the publication of an article on the project “Early prognosis of Covid-19 infections via Machine Learning” in which he works as principal investigator and in which other members of the centre collaborate: Ruben Armañanzas, Adrian Diaz and Jose Segovia. The project is funded by AXA Reserach Fund within the exceptional call “Mitigating risk in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic”.
The project, develops machine learning techniques for the early prognosis of COVID-19 infections that predict the future severity of infections using health data obtained shortly after detection. These algorithms can be used by healthcare or public health professionals to make decisions with favourable results.

BCAM and BMW Group collaborate on an industrial PhD

BCAM and BMW Group collaborate in an industrial PhD on Computational Fluid Dynamics and Machine Learning. This PhD is funded by the German group and will work in collaboration with the CFD Modelling and Simulation group at BCAM.

The supervisors of the PhD thesis are Ikerbasque Prof. Marco Ellero, leader of the CFD group, Dr. Roberto Santana (Intelligent Systems Group, UPV/EHU) and Dr. Babak Gholami, from BMW. The PhD will take place in Munich (Germany) with regular visits to the Bilbao centre, a way to ensure close collaboration.

This industrial PhD is part of the “Artificial Intelligence and CFD Data Simulation Model” project which aims to develop data structures and simulation models for AI and physics-informed data that are applicable to multiple engineering disciplines and can ultimately be integrated into day-to-day BMW projects.
