The âSUBsurface ElectroMagnetic Imaging Numerical Tools for the Industry â SUBEMâ project has been one of the three projects selected in the field of mathematicsfor «R&D Projects» 2020 â Modalities «Research Challenges» and «Knowledge Generation» by the Spanish Research Agency. Prof. David Pardo, leader of the Simulation of Wave Propagation (SIWP) research line and Ikerbasque Professor, explains that the news has been âa great privilege, and at the same time a great responsibilityâ. A proof of concept aims to develop the results of a research project to a practical commercial use. Researchers contact companies and institutions to explore the usability of the results in certain commercial applications or to generate software for use by third parties, for example.
Basque Center for Applied Mathematics â BCAM has welcomed to the center a new group of PhD students for the course 2021-2022. They are going to work mostly in mathematics and informatics, but in the different research groups at BCAM.
The project âMicroscopic foundations of soft-matter experiments: computational nano-hydrodynamicsâ (Compu-Nano-Hydr) is led by the principal investigator Prof. Marco Ellero, group leader of Computational Fluid Dynamics group at the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics â BCAM. The research project aims at the development of new mesoscopic numerical methods for nano-hydrodynamics-assisted soft matter experiments with particular focus on magnetic nano-assembly in water, frictional dynamics, lubrication and interfacial film dynamics.
