The Iberdrola Foundation has awarded one of the Grants for Research in Energy and the Environment to Vincenzo Nava, a researcher at BCAM and Tecnalia. His project, which focuses on the development of an artificial intelligence algorithm to reduce the operating costs of offshore wind structures, was one of the 20 projects selected by the foundation.
Four mathematicians receive the Princess of Asturias Award for Scientific and Technical Research
The award has been granted to four exceptional mathematicians: Yves Meyer, Ingrid Daubechies, Terence Tao and Emmanuel Candè. Six young researchers have been awarded by the Spanish Royal Mathematical Society and the BBVA Foundation. Among them is Judit Muñoz, postdoc researcher at BCAM. She works in the area of numerical methods in partial differential equations and, according to the jury, "has made a fundamental contribution to the construction of variational formulations with applications in the area of goal-oriented adaptability using unconventional error representations".
