This cultural initiative is part of BILBOMATH, an agreement signed between the Bilbao City Council and BCAM to promote internationalization and innovation in attracting talent. The main objective was to disseminate mathematical and musical culture and stimulate its development in young pianists.

BCAM's researcher Novi Quadrianto is the PI of the this ERC PoC project.
The vision behind Act.AI is to utilise statistical matching for mitigating and auditing bias in Artificial Intelligence (AI) models.  A key aspect of Act.AI is the ability to operate with different types of data (tabular, images, and text) in a variety of contexts (binary and multiclass classification and regression). It is also able to match datasets in different domains including out-of-distribution data even if these datasets have different numbers of variables or features.

This partnership underscores the Center's commitment to sustainable development and technological innovation. As part of this network, BCAM takes on the role of Kidea for Sustainable Development Goal 9 (SDG 9), which focuses on building resilient infrastructure, promoting inclusive and sustainable industrialization, and fostering innovation. BCAM's advanced expertise in applied mathematics is crucial for addressing these challenges and making significant contributions to Bizkaia's progress in these areas.
Diversity and inclusion are fundamental to innovation and progress in scientific research. By integrating diverse perspectives and experiences through the participation in Mujeres Por Africa, BCAM not only enriches its work environment, but also promotes a culture of equity and excellence. This cooperation strengthens international ties and fosters a cultural and academic exchange beneficial to all parties involved.

This year, we are working with Myriam Sonia Djoukwe Tapi, researcher at the University of Douala, Cameroon. Visiting Fellow at Mathematical and Theoretical Biology line.

Innobasque, BCAM and BAIC are seeking the best practical cases carried out in the Basque Country to, through their example, promote innovation as a fundamental process to improve the competitiveness and progress of Basque organisations. The call, made in collaboration with the Basque Centre for Artificial Intelligence (BAIC) and the Basque Center for Applied Mathematics (BCAM), focuses this time on the development of innovative solutions based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (GAI), given their high impact and transformative potential in the competencies and capabilities of organisations and companies.
This conference aimed to bring together global experts on the themes to take stock of the latest advances and bring new issues to light. It also served as the closing conference of the ANR QuAMProcs project (https://quamprocs.math.u-bordeaux.fr/projet/) of the University of Bordeaux.

BCAM hosted the first Queer and Trans Workshop in Mathematical Analysis (QuMa) 2024 in Bilbao. The event featured a hybrid format over three days, including talks and roundtable discussions, bringing together mathematics researchers and activists from around the world in an inclusive environment. The main objective of this scientific meeting was to foster collaboration between researchers in mathematical analysis and activists from marginalized groups.

BCAM organised the 3-day workshop “Basque Astrotech Computational Neuroscience Meeting 2024” on Neuronal and Glial Data Analysis and. The event featured 12 local and international experts on state-of-the-art neural technologies and brain studies in the Basque Country. This workshop provided a training opportunity for the next generation of professional scientists in brain data analysis, mining, and simulation. More information about the ASTROTECH project on the website is available http://www.astrotechproject.eu/.

BCAM organised for the first time the EBRAINS Brain Simulation Workshop 2024 in Bilbao, held for 5 days at Bizkaia Aretoa. The workshop featured several international speakers and “Hands-on” sessions for the attendees during the afternoons of the event.

The event focused on computational neuroscience and the EBRAINS Cellular Level Modelling Platform (ECEMP), with the main aim of extending access to this field and related tools to the neuroscientific communities.

BCAM organised the first Spring School and "Workshop "Spectral Theory, Fourier Analysis and PDEs" over five days at the Bizkaia Aretoa in Bilbao, in person. The workshop featured numerous invited speakers and three mini-courses. The main objective of this scientific meeting was to foster a gathering between researchers at different stages of their careers, including master's students, PhD students, early postdoctoral researchers, as well as leading experts in the fields of Spectral Theory, Fourier Analysis and Partial Differential Equations.

BCAM organised the workshop "Fractional Calculus, Probability and Non-Local Operators: Applications and Recent Developments 2024" on May 20, 21, and 22 at the Bilbao headquarters of the Center, in person. In this eighth edition of the series of workshops started in 2013, hosted the first meeting of the PRIN2022 MUR project "Non-Markovian Dynamics and Non-Local Equations".

The workshop brought together renowned expert researchers in the many branches and intersections of Fractional Calculus, Probability, and Analysis of Non-Local Operators.
