The project “Optimisation of the aluminium smelting process through mathematical technology” will study how aluminium recycling processes can be improved
At BCAM, Prof. Marco Ellero, Group Leader and Ikerbasque researcher, together with Imanol GarcĂa De Beristain, Research Technician of the CFD Modelling and Simulation group, are working through the project “Optimisation of the aluminium smelting process through mathematical technology”, from different axes to improve the modelling of aluminium with application in advanced manufacturing, aligned with the Basque Government’s RIS3 strategy to improve the circular economy. This project has been funded by the Provincial Council of Bizkaia within the 2021 Technology Transfer Programme and is co-financed by the ERDF and supported by GHI Hornos Industriales.
From 27 to 30 June, the Hydrodynamics of Wave Energy Converters (HYWEC) 2022 workshop will be held at the School of Engineering of the University of the Basque Country – UPV/EHU, in Bilbao under invitation. The event will bring together different speakers and attendees who are experts in the development of new mathematical and numerical models for the simulation of the hydrodynamics of wave energy converters (WECs). During the four days of the workshop, there will be invited talks, scientific presentations, round table discussions, software demonstration and brainstorming sessions.
How did you and your team feel when you found out that you had been one of the winning projects in the call? [...]Â We were extremely happy when we got to know that we had succeeded this time since this meant that our project goals were feasible. Moreover, at that time we were totally prepared to start using the allocated computing time, so everything was ready to go!
