Good afternoon

Easter is just past, but another bank holiday is looming at the beginning of May.

What a joy it is to be in beautiful Northern Ireland where the weather is cloudless across the province as I write this on Sunday afternoon. And it is set to be good all week.

People are now travelling more too, as restrictions ease, but there have been problems with queues at Dublin airport, and now Belfast too. In both cases, they are seeking staff:

Meanwhile, there is a lot of hard politics about, with the looming election. Our latest interview with a unionist leader is Doug Beattie

I am surprised how many people in PR elections do not vote down the ticket. If they have only given preferences to a small number of candidates, their vote then could have no influence if a later count is narrowly decided

The protocol rallies are ongoing
Aileen Quinton, whose mother was killed by the IRA, has in a letter defended one of our news stories

From Farming Life, British free range and organic egg farmers are considering an exodus from the industry after major supermarkets refused to help them cover spiralling costs.

And a journalist who swapped chasing stories in England for rounding up sheep in Northern Ireland after falling in love with a vet, has written a book about it

In sport,  Adam McLean claimed a pole position brace as he set the pace in Supersport and Supertwin qualifying  for the centenary Cookstown 100

And the Crusaders Stephen Baxter on his special milestone of managing the Seaview side for the 850th time

As ever there is so much more. Our bumper Weekend News Letter and Farming Life is still in the shops today
