As one of the first independent centres for photography in Europe, the FFF continues to contribute to the international photographic art scene. At the end of the anniversary year, there will be a special event especially for photography collectors: On Saturday, 9 November 2024, at 10 am, a BENEFIT AUCTION will take place with 40 outstanding works by artists shown at the FFF. The proceeds will go towards future FFF projects. This event is a cooperation with the Frankfurt auction house Auktionshaus Arnold (Bleichstraße 40–42, 60313 Frankfurt am Main). A preview will be held at the auction house on Friday, November 8th, 2024, 10 am–6 pm. The catalogue can be viewed in advance online on the FFF website.
Since its founding in 1984, the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt has specialised in both contemporary and historical photography of international standing. The combination of great classics and new discoveries in the photography scene has always been a focus of the FFF exhibition programme. The selection of photographs donated by the artists or by their families and estates for this benefit auction reflects the great national and international recognition for the work and commitment of the FFF.
The benefit auction will include works by Barbara Klemm, Germany’s most famous postwar photojournalist, who had her first major exhibition at the Fotografie Forum Frankfurt in 1984; American photographer Abe Frajndlich, to whom the FFF dedicated a major retrospective exhibition in 2023; Elina Brotherus, a key figure of the Helsinki School had a large show at FFF in 2022; and emerging artists such as Lilly Lulay and Mika Sperling, who were supported by the Recommended Olympus Fellowship co-initiated by the FFF; Davide Monteleone, the recent recipient of the renowned Leica Oskar Barnack Award; or Akinbode Akinbiyi the winner of the Hannah Höch Prize, who has just had a solo exhibition at the Museum Berlinische Galerie.
The Fotografie Forum Frankfurt thanks the following artists and estates for their generous support: Mónica Alcázar-Duarte, Akinbode Akinbiyi, Bruno Barbey, David Bailey, Pavel Baňka, Peter Bialobrzeski, Ferhat Bouda, Elina Brotherus, Serge Clément, Václav Chochola, Torben Eskerod, Abe Frajndlich, Peter Fink, Rainer Griese, Werner Hannappel, Barbara Klemm, Dinu Li, Didier Ben Loulou, Lilly Lulay, Olaf Martens, Arno Rafael Minkkinen, Davide Monteleone, Aïda Muluneh, Günter Pfannmüller, Derek Ridgers, Miguel Rio Branco, Michael Ruetz, Viviane Sassen, Andrew Savulich, Mika Sperling, Franz Toth, Amy Vitale and Wolfgang Zurborn. | | | | | | Barbara Klemm Sammy Davis, Frankfurt, 1976 © Barbara Klemm, 2024 | | | | | | Aïda Muluneh Memories in Development, Part Two, 2017 © Aida Muluneh, 2024 | | | | | | Wolfgang Zurborn Untitled, Cologne, 2017 Special Edition #2 - 9/20 © Wolfgang Zurborn, 2024 | | | | unsubscribe here Newsletter was sent to newsletter@newslettercollector.com
