Howdy investors!

Books are the best. That's why today we're giving you two extensive lists of the best bitcoin and blockchain books, either for yourself or as a holiday gift for that crypto-curious person in your life.

How would you feel paying up to $3 million in fees for a single bitcoin transaction? One user found out when he inadvertently sent a $5 million BTC transaction.

Despite the recent plea that cost Binance $4.3 billion and its CEO, optimism for the future of digital assets remains high. The likely upside to the case will be the long-awaited regulatory clarity, leading to a more mature and active crypto market.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong weighed in on the Binance case, saying it could represent a turning point for crypto, allowing the industry to move away from scandals and fraud and turn increasingly toward legitimacy.

Today's most important stories for crypto investors.

Bitcoin Sender Overpays Record-Breaking $3 Million Transaction Fee (Decrypt)

Investor takeaway:A bitcoin sender accidentally paid a record $3 million in transaction fees for sending 139.42 BTC, worth approximately $5.1 million. The high fee meant that only 55.77 BTC (about $2 million) reached the recipient. This incident represents the largest fee ever paid in bitcoin history.

This serves as a reminder to always double-check transaction details, especially fees. (It's worth noting that despite a recent increase in BTC transaction fees, the average fee is currently around $10.50.)

Binance Dies, And Crypto Is Birthed (Forbes)

Investor takeaway: Binance, previously the world's largest cryptocurrency exchange, and its CEO Changpeng Zhao pleaded guilty to engaging in criminal activities and will receive a $4.3 billion fine and stringent operational conditions.

This decision signals a significant shift towards stricter regulation and compliance in the cryptocurrency industry. Our view is that it's ultimately a good thing, as the government scores a political win, while Binance gets to keep going.

Coinbase CEO Says Crypto Industry Can Turn the Page After Historic Binance Settlement (CNBC)

Investor takeaway:In a CNBC interview, Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong discussed the recent $4 billion settlement between Binance and the U.S. Department of Justice. Like us, Armstrong views this as a turning point for the crypto industry, allowing it to move past scandals.

He emphasized the role of crypto companies in transforming the financial system and expects regulatory clarity to attract more institutional investment. With the resolution of FTX and Binance, a new era in crypto is dawning.
