This slideshow features examples of the kinds of images you can use to support ELLs' vocabulary and comprehension. Educators are welcome to incorporate the slides into their professional development resources. The images relate to a two-paragraph text excerpt from the award-winning All Thirteen: The Incredible Rescue of the Thai Boys' Soccer Team by Christina Soontornvat.

Molly of Denali: Little Dog Lost

When Anka, Tooey's new sled dog, goes missing, what can Molly and Tooey do to make sure the lost dog finds her way home?

Produced by WGBH Boston, Molly of Denali is a PBS Kids action-adventure comedy series that follows the adventures of feisty and resourceful 10-year-old Molly Mabray, an Alaska Native girl. You can find Molly of Denali on your local PBS station, as well as games, activities, videos, and a related podcast on PBS Kids and PBS Parents.

In addition, the short videos on the Molly of Denali YouTube channel make great classroom resources; we feature one in our Using Multimedia with ELLs strategy and another in our Pre-teaching Content and Vocabulary strategy.

NEA’s 2023-24 Read Across America digital calendar highlights a monthly theme and a related picture book, middle book, and YA book. All of the titles in the calendar includes activity suggestions, questions for discussion or reflective writing, related resources, and more titles to try.
