We need to talk about abortion access in Canada, too
“The Supreme Court tends to down their huge verdicts at the end of their sessions, usually in June, and reproductive advocacies warned that Roe v. Wade was heading towards an overturn,” writes artist Rachel Cairns, host and creator of the hit podcast, Aborsh. “It’s not like we were trying to exploit the moment, but more like us realizing, ‘Wow, this podcast will come out during a shit storm.’”
The first episode of Aborsh dropped a little over a week before the controversial Roe v. Wade ruling. Based on Cairns’ own candid experiences here in Canada, she tells Maclean’s about what motivated her to bring her story public and how the podcast sheds light on access to abortion issues that persist here in Canada.
