Digital Trends’ Prakhar Khanna was enjoying using his M2 MacBook Air — until he discovered the Honor MagicBook Art 14. Honor introduced it earlier this year at IFA 2024, but it only went on sale a couple of weeks ago (in Europe). It’s pricier than the MacBook Air, but Prakhar has found it to be worth the extra cost. The Snapdragon X Elite-powered MagicBook Art 14 features a 14.6-inch notch-less OLED touchscreen display with a 120Hz refresh rate in a laptop body that weighs just 2.25 pounds (1.02 kilograms). Digital Trends’ Andy Boxall has had a chance to try out Amazon’s recently refreshed Kindle Paperwhite e-reader, and he liked what he found. Andy praised the $160, 7-inch device for its ease of use, excellent E Ink screen, dark mode option, and long battery life of up to 12 weeks. Downsides include a screen that attracts smudges, and a rear that gets easily scuffed. Notably, Andy has also been using the new $280 Kindle Colorsoft, but said that he hardly missed the color display when using the more affordable Paperwhite ... |

The Tribit StormBox Blast 2 is a large boombox-style speaker with a great sound and an impressive 30 hours of battery life, according to a hands-on review of the 16-pound machine by Digital Trends’ Jen Karner. It comes with an 80-watt subwoofer, two 45-watt midrange drivers, and two 15-watt tweeters for 180 watts of stereo sound on battery power, or 200 watts if it’s plugged in with the AC adaptor. It also has customizable LEDs that “add some flair to those after-dark dance parties when you go camping.” But it comes with a $300 price tag that could be prohibitive for some ... |

Boxoffice Pro is confident that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 will own the North American box office this weekend with up to $45 million of revenue on its second week of release, while Mufasa, also on its second weekend, is forecast to earn up to $30 million. Third spot is more interesting, however, with Boxoffice Pro tipping Robert Eggers’ "bloody-but-artful" remake of Nosferatu to take it, raking in as much as $20 million on its debut. But also on its first outing, the Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown could just edge it, while Wicked, on its sixth week in theaters, may end up squeezing in ahead of both newcomers ... |
