Pieces in place: Turkish designer brings his A-game

Have you ever heard of a microsculpture? It's a unique form of art involving sculptures that can only be seen under a microscope. Several microsculpture exhibits exist, but few are as impressive as the ones designed by Necati Korkmaz of Turkey. One of his most famous pieces is a fully functional chessboard measuring 0.35 inches by 0.35 inches — which accidentally broke a Guinness World record during the design process.

You can use a pair of tiny sticks to play a game, but if you move too roughly or quick, you’ll send the pieces flying in every direction. Chess is already difficult enough as it is, but come on. That’s what we call having a home-field advantage. Chess isn’t called “The Game of Kings” for nothing.
