Android Police | Google is delaying the shutdown of its longtime internet protocol chat and call app, Hangouts. G Suite users were originally told that Hangouts would be retired starting in October. Now, the deadline for G Suite customers to move has now been pushed back to "no sooner than June 2020."
Krebs on Security | "Almost weekly now I hear from an indignant reader who suspects a data breach at a Web site they frequent that has just asked the reader to reset their password. Further investigation almost invariably reveals that the password reset demand was not the result of a breach but rather the site’s efforts to identify customers who are reusing passwords from other sites that have already been hacked. But ironically, many companies taking these proactive steps soon discover that their explanation as to why they’re doing it can get misinterpreted as more evidence of lax security. This post attempts to unravel what’s going on here," writes author Brian Krebs.
The Next Web | The first step to stronger cybersecurity is to address the risks that most often go overlooked. The vulnerabilities they pose are consequential, but for various reasons, they tend to be downplayed. Instead of accepting those risks, extend your cybersecurity efforts to strengthen these three areas.
ZDNet | People deal with hundreds of emails a day and employers aren't doing enough to help, which means the threat of fake messages will continue.
How-To Geek | Google is finally adding virtual desktops to its repertoire of Chromebook features—something other major operating systems already have—with Chrome OS version 76. The function has been in testing for several months and is now available for those in the Stable channel. Virtual desktops, which Google calls Virtual Desks, let you separate the desktop into multiple workspaces where you can organize applications and windows. Chrome OS enables you to have up to four Desks at the same time that you can quickly switch between.
How-To Geek | Windows 10 still lets you create desktop shortcuts to applications, files, folders, and even websites. Desktop icons may a little out of fashion, but they’re still useful as part of a nicely organized desktop.

G Suite Updates | It’s now easier for users of assistive technologies, like screen readers and Braille displays, to keep track of real-time updates made by collaborators in a document. With live edits, you can view a periodically updated summary of collaborator changes in a convenient sidebar.
G Suite Updates | Earlier this year, Google announced that we will be transitioning classic Hangouts users in G Suite domains to Hangouts Chat and Hangouts Meet. At that time, Google provided a timeline of changes and said that in October 2019 they would start retiring classic Hangouts for G Suite customers. Since then, Google has heard feedback from many users that they’d like more time to migrate your organizations from classic Hangouts to Hangouts Chat. As a result, Google is officially postponing the final transition date (i.e. phase 4 in this timeline) to no sooner than June 2020.
