Maternal Diabetes and Risk for Asthma in the Offspring

Manage Your Stress with Some At-Home Flexibility Exercises
--By Sheri Colberg, PhD
Letter from the Editor

I just read an article indicating over 80 currently approved medications that are being tried or tested to help with the Coronavirus.

We know that diabetes patients are at additional risk of death from Covid-19 and anything that can interfere with glucose control can be deadly.

That is why we had our intern, Karlena Pope, update our list of over 400 drugs that can wreak havoc with your patients' glucose levels.

Fact:   Coronavirus + Diabetes = Increased Risk of Death

For the U.S. population, getting the COVID-19 virus and having diabetes increases the risk of death dramatically. The Louisiana Department of Health released a report showing that of those that have died from COVID-1940% of the total had diabetes.  In the U.S., those with diabetes and the COVID-19 virus have a 9.2% risk for death and those with cardiovascular disease 10 .5%.  If you can reduce the A1c below the A1c diagnosis of 6.5% and even below the diagnosis for prediabetes at 5.7-6.4%, you can reduce the risk to a level closer to those with no reported underlying medical conditions, which is 0.9%.     CDC.Gov         Louisiana Dept of Health
