I am done recording the Week 11 Beyond the Box Score podcast -- a weekly Monday recap show that I do with Adam and Dan -- and now it's time to catch FFT Newsletter readers up on everything that I've learned in the past 24 hours! We're going beyond the box score! |
Beyond the Box Score -- Fantasy football risers following Week 11 |
Fantasy riser -- Anthony Richardson |
A Rich averaged 4.4 designed runs per healthy game prior to Week 11. He doubled that up in his first game back under center. |
You could also call the Indy pass-catchers winners for Fantasy purposes, if you believe that what we saw from Richardson as a passer is sustainable. He produced over 200 catchable air yards, which is a huge number. |
Joe Burrow leads the NFL with 208 catchable air yards per game. |
Fantasy riser -- Justin Herbert and Ladd McConkey |
And Justin Herbert brings exciting Fantasy upside, too! Even in 1QB leagues, Herbert's rushing increase has made him relevant as a potential top-10 weekly option. His scramble rate was again way up (10%) in Week 11! Exciting times for the Chargers, right now! Throw Quentin Johnston into the mix, too! He tied McConkey for the team-lead in first-read targets. |
Fantasy risers -- George Pickens |
George Pickens was the WR3 in expected Fantasy points (XFP - per Fantasy Points Data) in Week 11. |
His role makes him a volatile Fantasy producer, and we saw Pickens not come down with either 50/50 end zone shot in Week 11, but the upside was there for an absolutely massive Fantasy performance. And with the Steelers likely to have to pass the ball a lot with a string of brutal upcoming matchups for the running game, Pickens will probably continue to see a ton of XFP each week. We'll see if he converts his XFP to FP! |
Fantasy riser -- Jauan Jennings |
All the usual suspects are here! I've got some newer names for you too, I did want to start out by providing a quick update on some of the names that have been discussed a lot in this space. |
It was another big day for FFT newsletter favorite, Jauan Jennings. |
Fantasy riser -- Rome Odunze |
Maybe, just maybe, there's hope in Chicago. Maybe simply removing Shane Waldron was all that was needed. Week 11 was certainly an encouraging one for Rome Odunze. More three-receiver sets means more playing time for the stud rookie receiver. |
Fantasy riser -- Christian Watson |
The Packers ran the fewest offensive plays (43) in Week 11, and only 20 of those were dropbacks. Only 17 were pass attempts. Christian Watson was second among Green Bay receivers in routes run (70% route rate) and finished with 150 receiving yards even in the low-volume day. Meanwhile, Dontayvion Wicks only registered a 30% route rate and was held catch-less on one target. |
With the Packers looking at several potential shootouts to close the season, Watson is an intriguing late-round Fantasy sleeper. If we could get the man some touchdowns, we might really be cooking for Fantasy purposes. |
Fantasy riser -- Jaxon Smith-Njigba |
Jaxon Smith-Njigba takeover? Probably not quite yet, not if DK Metcalf has anything to say about it. This was one of the most encouraging games of JSN's career, though, and his Year 2 data is looking better and better lately! |
Fantasy riser -- Taysom Hill |
It's not just the big run or the goal-line touchdowns, Hill also accounted for 32% of the Saints first-read targets in Week 11. He's massively involved in the offense without Chris Olave, Rashid Shaheed, or either backup RB healthy enough to play. |
Seriously, it was the Taysom HIll show. He was the offense. He had approximately the same expected Fantasy point total in Week 11 as some of the best players in the NFL. |
Sorry to Jonathan Taylor managers, I know this graphic is disturbing. Back to Taysom, though! What happens when the most efficient Fantasy point producer gets a full-time role? 43.5 Fantasy points, I suppose. |
He might just be a league winner if the Saints keep him this involved. New Orleans won back-to-back games going into the Week 12 bye, so maybe they remain competitive to close out the season. Taysom's package has never been so expanded. |
Fantasy riser -- Brock Bowers |
It may seem silly to include Bowers, but Jakobi Meyers was the player who was consistently leading the Raiders in first-read target share when both had been healthy. In the first game under new offensive direction out of the bye, we saw Vegas center the offense entirely around Bowers. |
Bowers also had his highest route rate of the season, even in a game where Michael Mayer played! The result of additional playing time and first-read targets was one of the best historical statistical performances at the TE position. |
If you don't know about it already, Dan and I created a second Beyond the Box Score episode that is exclusive to YouTube. We've had a ton of awesome guests help us get the show up and running, and we have both put a lot of work into that podcast project with an aim to make it fun and accessible for any level of NFL fan! You can support the project by watching, liking, commenting, and subscribing. Thanks for being here! |
