Our Big Cat Festival is fast approaching, and we thought it was about time we introduced you to some of the fantastic speakers joining us at this year's events. This month we speak to Paul Goldstein (photographer and Exodus Travels' Big Cat Expert), John Rendall & Derek Cattani (authors of Christian the Lion: The Illustrated Legacy) and Brian Jackman (award-winning travel writer and co-author of the bestselling narrative, The Marsh Lions).
We're also launching a BRILLIANT competition for all you budding photographers out there! Ever fancied getting your photography critiqued by the experts? Well, now's your chance!
This year at the Big Cat Festival we've partnered with Exodus Travels to bring you a brilliant big cat competition! Simply send in your best images before midnight on the 4th April, and Paul Goldstein will pick some of the best to be shown on stage for critique by him and Chris Packham. Winners will receive the title of Big Cat Festival Photographer of the Year, as well as two large signed canvases of images specifically chosen by Paul and Chris as their own favourite photographs, and £500 of holiday vouchers from Exodus Travels.
Returning to the Big Cat Festival for a second year, Paul Goldstein will be regaling us with tales of his experiences with big cats and the ridiculous frustrations and pitfalls of trying to get that image. He'll also be having a blast with his friend Chris Packham – judging each other's best bigcat pics, as well as your competition images. Click here for more from Paul.
2018 saw the publication of John Rendall and Derek Cattani's Christian the Lion: The Illustrated Legacy. They'll be talking to our MD Adrian Phillips about putting Christian's tale into words and will introduce us to some of the never-before-seen photos available in the book. Brian Jackman has long been associated with big cats, most notably with the Marsh Lions of the Masai Mara. He'll be telling us all about his life with lions, and sharing decades of experience in the travel-writing industry. Click here for a taster of the stories Brian has to offer.
