Meet “MACH.” She’s the new commander of the F-35 Lightning II Demonstration Team at Hill Air Force Base. She grew up with a mother who was certified as a fighter pilot back in the day, but she wasn’t allowed to fly.
Times have certainly changed — and “MACH” proved it Tuesday with a stunning display of skill that showcased her more than 1,000 hours of experience in a wide variety of fighter aircraft.
U.S. Air Force Capt. Melanie “MACH” Kluesner became the new certified pilot and commander of the F-35A Lightning II Demonstration Team earlier this month after training at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Arizona.

Big money has started rolling in for Utah’s firstcompetitive Republican primary for an open Senate seat in three decades.
Salt Lake City lawyer Brent Hatch was notified over the weekend that his campaign to replace Sen. Mitt Romney for the U.S. Senate seat held by his father for 42 years had attracted the biggest investment from a Political Action Committee of any candidate so far this election cycle.
The Virginia-based Conservative Outsider PAC committed $1.8 million to purchase television and radio advertisements for Hatch over the next month, giving him a boost among the crowded field of Senate hopefuls vying for donors’ dollars and PAC endorsements.
