The U.S. Department of Energy is putting good money behind R&D in this area – announcing a huge investment in new battery types that can perform long-term storage of solar and wind energy.

Form Energy has signed deals to deploy its 10 MW/1,000 MWh iron-air battery system with Xcel Energy, Southern Company, and Great River Energy.
