| | Sunday, September 26, 2021 | The biggest injury of NFL Week 3 probably happened on Thursday night, when Christian McCaffrey went down with a hamstring injury that is, as of now, expected to cost him a few weeks of action. You can add him to the list of relevant Fantasy Football players already sidelined for Week 3, like Dalvin Cook, Josh Jacobs, Darrell Henderson, Tee Higgins, and Diontae Johnson, among others. | And, unfortunately that list didn't get any shorter on Sunday. A.J. Brown was forced into an early exit with a hamstring injury, and Julio Jones joined him on the sidelines for much of the fourth quarter, though that may have been a precautionary issue more than anything. The Steelers weren't so lucky. Already down Johnson, JuJu Smith-Schuster left the game in the third quarter with a rib injury and was unable to return. | | Tomorrow morning, I'll have winners and losers from each game on the NFL schedule this week as well as Heath Cummings' breakdown of the top storylines. For now, here's what you need to know from Sunday: | | Week 2 Injury Recap | Last week, we had a bunch of injuries to keep track of, including a few that ended up being a lot more serious than we feared -- nobody really thought Tee Higgins' shoulder issue was serious until it forced him out of practice this week. Here are all of the relevant injuries I saw today: | - A.J. Brown (hamstring) -- Brown was unable to return from the game, which is concerning given the nature of hamstring injuries. Hopefully with won't be a lingering issue, but it would not at all be a surprise if Brown missed Week 4. Julio Jones also left this game early and was on the sidelines during the fourth quarter, but it sounds like that was more about load management in a game where the Titans had the late lead. We'll keep an eye on it.
- Sterling Shepard (hamstring) -- Darius Slayton was also forced to leave this game early with a hamstring injury, and neither was able to return. Kenny Golladay was in and out at various points Sunday, though that wasn't unexpected after we received a report before the game that he might have his reps limited. We'll see what this means for Shepard's chances in Week 3 especially, and it might be worth adding Collin Johnson in deeper PPR leagues after he caught five passes for 51 yards on seven targets.
- JuJu Smith-Schuster (ribs) -- Smith-Schuster seemed like he might be set for a big game with Diontae Johnson (knee) out for Week 3, but he had just three catches for 25 yards on four targets before leaving the game. He was ruled out quickly, which isn't a great sign for his chances moving forward. Chase Claypool also left the game briefly after after landing awkwardly on a deep target, but he did return to the game.
- James White (hip) -- White had to be carted off, so this sure looks like a pretty concerning injury. Brandon Bolden seemed to replace him in passing situations, and he ended up playing 46% of the snaps. Bolden will be a pretty fringe-y Fantasy option, but could be worth a look in deeper PPR leagues.
- KJ Hamler (knee) -- Hamler suffered what looked like a pretty serious injury in the game against the Jets, as he couldn't put his full weight on the leg. Hopefully it wasn't as bad as it looked, but it would be a bit surprising if Hamler was able to play next week.
- Elijah Moore (concussion) -- Moore was entered into the concussion protocol as a result of his injury, which means he'll have to go through the process of being cleared by the league before he is able to return.
| It's also worth noting that DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett both left Sunday's game briefly in the fourth quarter, Lockett with a knee injury and Metcalf after taking a shot to the head. Both were able to return to the game, but we'll want to keep a close eye on their status during practice this week. Additionally, Rob Gronkowski (ribs), Tyler Higbee (leg), Mike Davis (leg), Justin Herbert (hand), Mike Williams (elbow), and Giovani Bernard (leg) all left Sunday's games briefly. We'll learn whether those injuries end up mattering in the coming days, so keep them in mind. | We'll have more on injuries in tomorrow's newsletter. For now, here's who you'll be looking to add in Week 4: | | | | | Here's who I'm looking at coming out of Sunday's action: | Top targets: | - Chuba Hubbard, RB, CAR 44%
- Emmanuel Sanders, WR, BUF 59%
- Peyton Barber, RB, LV 7%
- Zack Moss, RB, BUF 71%
- A.J. Green, WR, ARI 26%
