Also, missing video evidence in the Ronald Greene case
By Bob WarrenWhen Saints fans go marching in: It’s hot as blazes, but one of the things we look forward to each summer is Saints training camp and catching a a practice or two. Last year? Well, COVID, right? But this year seven practices will be open to fans starting later this month. Hydrate, folks. And go heavy with the sunblock. Frustrating COVID numbers: As we try to get back to normal, we’re doing it against a backdrop of rising COVID numbers across the state. Health officials are trying to get more people vaccinated and New Orleans officials on Tuesday uttered the dreaded M-word. Ugh! Missing bodycam footage: An internal report is shedding some new light in the case of Ronald Greene, who died in Louisiana State Police custody in 2019. Reporters John Simerman and Lea Skene have the latest. Still Scootin’: “Scoot” Paisant has been a fixture on New Orleans radio for decades, the last 10 years as an afternoon talker at WWL. Did you know he’s got a thing for the 80s? This Saturday he’ll celebrate five decades in the biz with a blowout at Generations Hall. Eighties-themed, of course, Keith Spera reports. Still stormin': Finally, it's Bastille Day, which as you know is a big deal in France. And reason enough for people in New Orleans to gather and wear costumes, as this gallery by Sophia Germer attests. All this and much more in today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us.
