| Greetings from Nashville, Tennessee. The battle for the last SEC West title (the league does away with divisional play in 2024) likely comes down once again to LSU and Alabama. Though the Tigers and Crimson Tide are the top two teams, they both have questions to answer. For LSU it's a matter of depth. For Alabama, it's a deeper roster but one with an unsettled quarterback situation after losing Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young to the NFL and a bunch of talented players who made a lot of sloppy mistakes in 2022 (which of course led to a "dreadful" 11-2 season). Our Wilson Alexander serves up a slice of Alabama's cake with our main story from SEC Media Days on Wednesday (read the story and you'll understand the analogy). For second-year Florida and former UL coach Billy Napier, contending with two-time national champion Georgia in the SEC East isn't in the equation. The question is whether is Napier already on the hot seat. That seems like a outlandish notion to those who cover Florida. But what isn't outlandish is the likelihood that Florida will struggle once again and test the patience of Gator fans who are accustomed much more to winning than losing. Few expected LSU linebacker Harold Perkins to have the freshman season he did last year. That included Arkansas, which one player admitted Wednesday didn't scout him much. Perkins turned into a one-man wrecking crew against the Razorbacks, who are unlikely to make that mistake this season. Here's my three takes on Wednesday's media day story lines, including whether Alabama is still a Ferrari of college football, whether Arkansas coach Sam Pittman is now the most colorful coach in college football, and how Kentucky can boost its offense in 2023 despite losing quarterback Will Levis to the NFL (Levis now plays here in Nashville for the Titans). Turning to LSU baseball, the Tigers' Tre Morgan made it official that he's off to pro baseball with a farewell message to Tiger fans everywhere. Tiger fans who are going to miss watching Morgan make his dazzling defensive plays at first base and in the outfield. Finally, women's basketball stars Angel Reese and Flau'Jae Johnson are now starring in a new commercial about their dorm room. Makes you wonder how many NIL millionaires live in dorm rooms.
