Big Tech represents in the Super Bowl

Gooooood morning! Hope you all enjoyed this year's Super Bowl experience. From the game to the ads, there was lots to talk about.

The tech companies were well represented - Microsoft, Amazon, Google and Facebook all ran spots. And while the nation's Tweeter-in-Chief ran one spot during the game (and one after), the social platform decided to sit on the sidelines this year. Which makes sense, in a way.

Twitter, for all the roles it plays in shaping discourse, doesn't quite have Washington's eye of Sauron on it the way the others do. So if you're a tech company facing potential legislation, putting up ads designed to get people talking can work.

Just ask Planters.

Hope you all have a good week—there's lots going on between caucuses and impeachment hearings and State of the Unions and debates—and if you have any tips or thoughts about this newsletter or just want to say hi, drop me a line

Josh
