Making news on this day in 1990 were reports of some dedicated Raiders fans braving freezing temperatures to camp out overnight and ensure they were able to score tickets to the NSW Rugby League grand final. The brave fans set up a makeshift tent made out of canvas and attached to the wall at the Raiders Leagues Club in Mawson. It would be worth the extra effort to score tickets, as the Raiders defended their title with an 18-14 win over Penrith in September's big one.
