Also, keeping an eye on tropical weather in Gulf
By Bob WarrenNEW TWIST IN MURDER CASE: The saga of a Slidell woman’s murder last year has taken a bizarre turn. Recently filed court records show that authorities suspect the men accused of killing Brooke Buchler, who had been shot in the head and left in an abandoned New Orleans building, were trying to ensure her silence about another crime for which they’re accused. NEW FLIGHTS: Flying out of New Orleans? You’ll soon have some additional choices. Breeze Airways will offer 10 new direct flights starting in July. Speaking of air travel, looks like things are picking up at Louis Armstrong International. Business writer Tony McAuley reports there has been another healthy passenger boost so far this month as folks emerge from their pandemic cocoons. TROPICAL DEPRESSED: Ready to start what always seems like an entire year’s worth of watching the Gulf of Mexico for tropical weather? There’s one of those things in the western Gulf today that could organize into a tropical depression or storm. Geez. Not another summer like the last one.... OTHER NEWS: Attorney General Jeff Landry has reported making $50,000-$100,000 from a side gig as a board member of Harvey Gulf LLC. Streets remain closed around the vacant Plaza Tower skyscraper, which has been sprinkling the street with wind-torn debris. New Orleans public school students will have to return to the classroom next year. And the Saints’ new linebacker has a pretty cool nickname: Sneaky Pete. All this and much more in today’s Lunch Line. Thanks for taking a break with us. BW |
