Black Voices Boston

Join us at the showcase of Black Voices Boston, a short film with seven dance vignettes that shares the stories of seven Black Bostonians. Each participant's story will be reimagined into a dance choreographed by Rafael Palacios, founder of Colombian dance company Sankofa Danzafro.

The participants of Black Voices Boston are:

  • Cherié Butts PhD, medical director from Arlington, Mass.
  • Marlon Forrester, a painter, and art educator from Mattapan, Boston
  • Napoleon Jones-Henderson, renowned artist and educator from Roxbury, Boston
  • Shirley Jones-Luke, writer, poet, and public school educator from Dorchester, Boston
  • Nina La Negra, resident teaching artist and art educator from the South End, Boston
  • Janaeya Moon, rising high school senior and rapper from Dorchester
  • Ellice Patterson, Executive Director of Abilities Dance Boston and Ballet Rox, from Brookline, Mass.
