The five Army soldiers killed during a helicopter refueling incident over the Mediterranean Sea have been identified, and one was a 2004 graduate of Enterprise High School, reports AL.com's Howard Koplowitz.

Chief Warrant Officer 3 Stephen R. Dwyer and four other special-ops soldiers were doing aerial refueling training when their Blackhawk went down.

The Nashville Tennessean reported that Dwyer previously served deployments with the 160th Special Operations Aviation Regiment to Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and Afghanistan during Operation Enduring Freedom, among others.

Stephen Dwyer was 38 years old.

A past Alabama Mr. Baseball appears to be a part of Major League Baseball's future.

The Baltimore Orioles' Gunnar Henderson was the unanimous choice for 2023 American League Rookie of the Year, reports AL.com's Mark Inabinett.

Henderson played high school ball at Morgan Academy in Selma. With the Orioles this past season, he hit .255 with 28 home runs and 82 RBIs while splitting most of his time between shortstop and third base. He's the first Rookie of the Year in either league to come out of the state of Alabama since Craig Kimbrell won the award with the Atlanta Braves in 2011.

There's more than one way to expand your STEM academic footprint.

Here's a unique way: Auburn University is offering a master's degree in brewing science and operations, reports AL.com's Cody D. Short. There's currently no other program in the country like it.

You know, where college students are working on the production end of the beer industry.

Auburn's master's brewing-science program takes two years to complete. There's also a one-year program to earn a graduate certificate. Classes are online, and most students have full-time jobs and have some experience in craft beer or homebrewing.

No matter how bad things get in this country, there are two things we'll probably never have a shortage of: lawyers and beer.

Birmingham Civil Rights leader The Rev. Frank Dukes passed away over the weekend, reports Joseph D. Bryant. Among the highlights of Dukes' work was his organizing fellow Miles College Students to boycott downtown businesses that had segregationist policies in the early 1960s.

Frank Dukes was 92 years old.
