#1 Blackpills Launches Streaming Video App
Blackpills, a digital media company that produces short-form video series, has launched a free, ad-based OTT service focused on millennial audiences. The Blackpills app for iOS and Android devices is launching with 12 original series from such creative talent as Luc Besson, Sharon Horgan, Zoe Cassavetes and Louis Leterrier. It plans to launch additional new shows every week throughout the year.
WHY THIS MATTERS: The app, which is free to download, is aimed at young viewers and offers up bite-sized episodes about 10 minutes in length. Those short-form shows focus on topics such as virginity and sexual health, privacy in a digital age, politics and racial diversity.

#2 Amazon Rolls Out Channels in Europe
Amazon Channels, the aggregated subscription VOD service for Amazon Prime subscribers that debuted in the U.S. in late 2015, has launched offerings in the United Kingdom, Germany and Austria. Amazon Channels offers a mix of additional SVOD services that can be added on top of the baseline Prime subscription.
WHY THIS MATTERS: The company has been quietly assembling live TV channels to offer as la carte options to its Amazon Prime Video service. The U.K. version of Amazon Channels will feature more than 40 subscription VOD offerings. The version for Germany and Austria is starting off with more than 25 SVOD services.

#3 Poker Central Launches Subscription OTT Service
Poker Central announced the launch of PokerGO a subscription-based OTT service that will sell for $99 per year or $10 per month. The service debuts about six months after the programmer decided to shut down a linear TV network that was carried by a few MVPDs.
WHY THIS MATTERS: Consumers in more than 150 territories will be able to access the service through Android and iOS devices. PokerGOs debut comes after Poker Central acquired rights to the World Series of Poker broadcasts and TV distribution deals with NBC Sports and ESPN.
