Blackstone, EQT and KKR see dealmaking opportunities in Indian private equity; ECI buys software business from NorthEdge

Morning all, Craig McGlashan here with the Europe Wire from the London newsroom.

We take a deep dive into the growth of the Indian buyout market this morning as Hari Gopalakrishnan of EQT, Akshay Tanna of KKR and Amit Dixit of Blackstone tell us why the country has become a hot destination for global private equity firms.

Next, NorthEdge has completed the sale of a professional services automation software business to ECI.

Finally, we round up some of our biggest stories from last week as Europe returns from school holidays, including a debut deal for Ardian Semiconductor.

‘Entrepreneurial spirit’

First up this morning, PE Hub’s Irien Joseph speaks to senior dealmakers at some of the biggest global private equity firms about why India is attracting more and more interest from GPs.

Find out why, as well as how India's buyout sector has grown alongside its economy and the state of the exit market, in the premium version of the Wire.

Consulting boost

NorthEdge has completed the sale of CMap Group to ECI.

ICYMI

It was a busy week in the PE Hub London newsroom last week, despite much of Europe enjoying school holidays (I managed to squeeze in visits with my son to the Moonwalkers exhibition in King’s Cross’s Lightroom and Batman Unmasked in Covent Garden, both of which I’d recommend).

To help those who had a break get back up to speed, here’s some of our biggest stories from last week:

- Ardian Semiconductor buys IBS as chip market offers ‘opportunity of the decade’

- Bridgepoint on the hunt for more Achilles add-ons

- Leon Capital and Nuveen buy sustainability consultancy Longevity Partners

- Ardian eyes M&A to expand Vista Vision’s network in Italy and beyond

We also launched PE Hub’s Deal of the Year Award 2025. We’re now accepting nominations – more details here.

Shifting centers

We also reported late last week that Brookfield Asset Management has moved its head office from Toronto to New York.

The firm has also been making a big push in Europe, with London-based Anuj Ranjan becoming CEO of private equity in February. That was a topic I covered in this Dealmakers to Watch with Tristan Tully, a managing partner in the firm’s private equity group and head of its PE business in Europe, from April.

OK that’s it from me today. MK Flynn will write to you in the New York morning later today with the US Wire then Nina Lindholm will be on Europe duty tomorrow.

Cheers,

Craig
