Dear John,

Every milestone we reach this year, it's hard not to reflect on where we were one year ago. For me, I had just started my position at Franciscan Media a couple months prior to the COVID-19 pandemic and was still learning the ropes. I was, and still am in many ways, getting to know St. Francis of Assisi.

My faith does not come easily to me. Trust does not always come naturally, and, in my mind, things are often too good to be true.

But the more I get to know St. Francis, the more I find myself wanting to trust him. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by people every day who love, trust, and follow in the footsteps of St. Francis. They wrap themselves in his stories and love and let that carry them through some of the darkest times of their lives. They look to his example to help carry them through the pandemic, political unrest, and general uncertainty.

The more others in this organization help me get to know St. Francis, and show me St. Francis through their example, the more I trust in following his way.

I'm glad and grateful to work for Franciscan Media and experience the sense of peace that comes with being part of the team here. But I am also glad that I can work to give that sense of peace and serenity to others. It's my hope that our efforts to carry on the example of St. Francis continues to resonate with and inspire our audience.
