CNN's Wolf Blitzer got former Mike Pence Chief of Staff Marc Short to admit that he alerted Secret Service to the security threat posed by Donald Trump’s actions on January 5.

Short — who also served a brief stint as a CNN contributor between jobs in Trump’sWhite House —  was a guest on The Situation Room on the eve of Thursday's Jan. 6 committee hearing. 

Blitzer asked Short about Trump’s reaction to chants of “Hang Mike Pence!” — as committee Vice-Chair Liz Cheney claimed Trump said his vice president "deserves it." 

“We did find out in the course of the testimony that was released by the select committee in recent days that the then-President Trump watched that and said Pence basically deserved to be hanged,” Blitzer said after playing a clip of said chant, later asking Short, “When did you discover that?”

Short told Blitzer he was "not even yet convinced" of Cheney's claim, adding, "I know what the committee said. I also know the president denied that."

Blitzer later asked about the New York Times report that Short warned Pence's Secret Service chief of a “security risk” presented by Trump the day before the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol.

Short reluctantly folded: 

"There were plenty of people in Capitol Police who deserve recommendation for their heroism that day, but it’s also clear that Capitol Police was woefully unprepared for this.

And it put even a more burden on the Secret Service. And so, I believe that they all do deserve medals for what they did. But on the 5th, I did talk to Tim, because, at that point…"

Blitzer interrupted Short to confirm he spoke to the Secret Service on Jan. 5

"At the point, it became clear that the disagreements that had been discussed, I think, in private … Were about to become far more public," Short replied. "And I think, with thousands of people descending upon Washington, with hopes of a different outcome, I just thought it was important that they be alerted to that."

Blitzer continued to push Short on why he made the call. 

"But did you think the vice president of the United States was in danger?" Blitzer asked, prompting Short to say, "I thought it was important at least to let the Secret Service know that it was about to become a much more public disagreement."

Blitzer successfully got Short to confirm he was concerned for Pence's security, as a private dispute between Trump and Pence could pose potential safety risks if discussed publicly. 

Dinesh D'Souza's pro-Trump, conspiracy theory movie 2000 Mules is getting some pretty terrible reviews, and even conservatives think it's a complete joke.

The D'Souza hate kicked off during Monday's Jan. 6 House Select Committee hearing, which featured former Trump Attorney General Bill Barr straight up laughing at the film. 

“And I haven’t seen anything since the election that changes my mind on that," Barr said of the validity of the 2020 election, "including the 2000 Mules movie."

Barr proceeded to laugh at the film, which claims to examine evidence of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

“Just in a nutshell, you know, the [Georgia Bureau of Investigation] was unimpressed with it and I was similarly unimpressed with it,” Barr added of the D'Souza's movie, which was screened at Mar-a-Lago in May.

Barr concluded that while he was at first open to the film, as it promised evidence of voter fraud, it ultimately failed to "establish widespread illegal harvesting."

Ann Coulter also went after 2000 Mules in a Substack post titled “Dinesh’s Stupid Movie,” calling it "conspiracy."

"Every time you think you have your arms fully around Trump’s con, you realize it’s unfathomably more cynical and far-reaching than you could have imagined," she wrote. "Is there anyone in Trump World who isn’t trying fleece the Deplorables? Haven’t they suffered enough?"

Coulter later noted the movie demands an explanation for why Trump lost, which she pinned on Trump's failure to complete the border wall. 

“Most stunningly, Trump blew off the signature promise of his campaign: the wall,” she wrote, giving an explanation for his loss. “While he was busy sucking up to Wall Street, Kim Kardashian, RINOs, Silicon Valley, the gun-grabbers and illegal aliens, not one mile of wall got built.”

Coulter concluded, “Instead of a 49-state landslide and two decades of peace and prosperity, we’d have gotten a D’Souza conspiracy movie about how the Democrats cheated.”

D'Souza hit back at Barr following the 2000 Mules hate in a Monday tweet. 

"The level of ignorance displayed by Bill Barr here is truly stunning," he wrote. "He doesn’t seem to understand the very concept of geotracking."

Despite D'Souza's defense, the geotracking done for the film failed to distinguish between potential election saboteurs and people with legitimate reasons for being near those boxes every day.
