Hey Everyone,
Hello from the woody mountains of Southern California, where I'll be spending the next week and a half with my extended family.
The internet here is pretty spotty, so I do apologize in advance for any delays in getting you the newsletter.
The entire world seems to be in shock at the moment over the Taliban's resurgence. Now that the U.S. armed forces have completed their withdrawal, the Taliban have retaken the capital city of Kabul.
It's truly disheartening to see this sort of suffering in the world.
Today we see the U.S. abandon those who were loyal to our way of life, leaving them in many cases to be slaughtered by the enemy.
On the other hand, after 20 years of conflict, I must admit that I still don't understand what the U.S. military was doing there in the first place.
It's as if they learned absolutely nothing from the Vietnam War. Apparently, politicians benefit from such conflicts, or at least they find it easier to perpetuate the violence rather than stop it.
Corporations, on the other hand, definitely find these conflicts profitable.
