Upstate co-op links rural members to high-speed internet

Blue Ridge Electric Cooperative will soon take its first steps toward supplying high-speed internet across its five-county service territory through a partership with Abbeville-based WCFiber, a subsidiary of the West Carolina Telephone Cooperative.

New project to collect COVID-19 information

The SC STRONG project will test 32,500 randomly selected state residents, who will also complete a confidential survey. The project will track infection and immunity rates as well as identify health inequities.

Arthrex launches youth apprenticeship with Tri-County Technical College

Arthrex Inc., an orthopedic surgical device manufacturer, has signed on its first Tri-County Technical College apprentice through the Youth Apprenticeship Carolina program. Anderson’s Austin Shingleton, 16, will trailblaze the program by working at Arthrex Inc. part-time as a CNC machine operator apprentice starting today, while also taking classes at Tri-County Technical College and T.L. Hanna High School.

Compass of Carolina hosts jazz concert and fundraiser

Compass of Carolina, a nonprofit that offers counseling services and aids victims of domestic violence, will be hosting a virtual concert and fundraising event tonight in partnership with local businesses and artists.
