Researchers have developed an indoor optical wireless communication system using infrared beams in ceiling grids, which they state can provide fast, energy-efficient interference-free connections in tight spaces to supplement the capacity of Wi-Fi technology. Monash University scientists who created the platform note that it can precisely target each device with its own beam.
