Hi John,
The team here at BoldBrush has been working really hard to help you sell more art on FASO.
One of the things we're super excited about is our newBoldBrush Art Marketing Playbook, orAMPfor short. It's a step-by-step guide that helps you focus on doing the most important marketing tasks so you can spend less time marketing, more time painting, and sell more art than ever.
FASO is designed to make AMP even more effective. With AMP and FASO you'll spend even less time marketing, more time painting, and sell even more art. We call this powerful combinationAMP2.
AMP2 only works, though, if you put it into practice(and we all know how hard getting started can be sometimes). So we wanted to make it easier for you to build the habit of using AMP2 to grow you art sales.
In order to help,we've developed a series of weekly emails we're calling theBoldBrush AMP Weekly Action Planthat will guide you through the steps you need to take that week to put AMP2 into action.
You'll find this week's steps below. Just follow along and before long you'll be well on your way to growing your art sales with AMP and FASO!
Week 2 Action Plan:
1. Publish your new artpublicly- this will kick off BoldBrush Art Marketing Boosts.
If you followed the plan last week, you posted new art to your website and set the visibility to "website only." Now it's time to share that art with the world by telling FASO you want these artworks to be promoted to our audience of over 37K collectors!
When you follow the steps below, it's important to remember to do them for only one artwork per day. This will ensure you'll get maximum exposure for each and every one of the artworks you want to promote. So if you have several artworks you want to promote this week, promote one a day and spread them out throughout the week.
When you're ready to promote an artwork, go to the Artwork Details page in the FASO Control Panel for that artwork and change its Visibility to "Public Promoted" and then save your changes. That's it!
When you set an artwork's Visibility to "Public Promoted" it triggers something we callBoldBrush Art Marketing Boostsfor you. Yes,this is where we do some art marketing for you:
- We'll publish one of your pieces in the DailyArtStream, which reaches over 70K collectors, gallery owners, and art enthusiasts (these are people who have not bought artwork yet, but show a strong intention to do so soon). This will send a stream of art buyers right to your website.
- We will automatically send a gorgeous email announcing your new artwork to everyone who signed up to receive New Art Alerts from you.New Art Alerts, in case you're wondering, is a feature on your FASO website that lets people anonymously sign up to receive email updates about new art you have available and encourages them to give you feedback or buy your art right from your FASO website.
- Want an extra boost? Tell FASO to send New Art Alerts to all your newsletter subscribers too! What's great about this feature is you can now focus your precious time on telling stories in your newsletter and let FASO handle letting your subscribers know when you have new artwork available for sale. You can find instructions on how to do that here.
If you didn't follow last week's plan, don't worry! Just go ahead and upload a new artwork now and set its Visibility to "Public Promoted" (the default) immediately.
2. Post your new art to Facebook / Instagram.
- Post your new pieces to Facebook. If you have more than one piece, post them one at a time with 2-3 posts over the course of the week. If you have more than 3 pieces, that's OK: that will give you post material to continue into next week.
- Post your new pieces to Instagram. Again, if you have more than one, dole them out on Instagram over the course of the week.
- When you post your artwork on Instagram, use the hashtag #boldbrush. We run a weekly contest on Instagram called theRegram Contest. We search for artwork from our members that have this hashtag and then share some of those posts with our Instagram audience. This will drive a lot of extra visibility for you and your artwork. Even if we don't share your post we'll like it, which may lead to more visibility for you.
- When posting on Facebook and Instagram, use other popular art hashtags. If you don't know any or even if you don't understand hashtags, just use the following standard list we've compiled: #art #artist #artwork #fineart #painting #artoftheday #contemporaryart #originalartwork #creativework #boldbrush #instaart
- Extra credit assignment: learn more about Instagram marketing for artists. If you want to go deeper and learn more about Instagram and hashtags, we've put together a list of our best articles on the subject for you. You can find themhere, here, hereandhere.
- Not on Instagram? Then do this instead. If you don't use Instagram, then your assignment this week is different. Sign up for an Instagram account for your art business andenable the social profile linkon your FASO website to point to your Instagram profile. Instagram is the most important social network for artists and if you're not using it, you should start.
3. Start drafting your newsletter.
If you followed the action plan last week, you've been thinking about your story for your newsletter this month. This week, start drafting your newsletter.Just type out a rough draft of the ideas you have and finalize the 1-3 artworks you want to include in this month's newsletter.
Here are a few guidelines to help you remember what we discussed in the AMP webinar and ebook:
- Write as if you're writing a personal email to a dear friend.Write in your own voice. Don't try to make it sound too polished or like you're writing forThe New Yorker.
- Tell your story and the story of your artworkinstead of pushing for a sale. You want to emotionally connect with your subscribers, and nothing gets in the way more than asking for a sale.
- Make sure you tell your story genuinely and be vulnerable.Remember to share your story, warts and all. The more you do, the more your subscribers will connect with you on a human level.
- Engage your audience by asking them to do one thingat the end of your newsletter. Ask them for feedback on your story or feedback on your artwork. And when your subscribers take you up on your request, make sure that you respond back to each and every one that does.
4. Join our private Art Marketing Mastermind Group
If you haven't already done so, join our private, for FASO Members only Art Marketing Mastermind group. You'll learn even more marketing ideas and can ask questions about the best way to implement these ideas.
