On Monday, the Department of State launched a new version of the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) for U.S. citizens traveling internationally. STEP is a free service that allows you to subscribe to email alerts and updates from the nearest U.S. embassy and makes it easier to contact U.S. citizens during an emergency.

Bolstering Security for Presidential Nominees

On Sunday, former President Donald Trump was the target of another assassination attempt. There is absolutely no place in the United States of America for political violence. In the wake of the second assassination attempt, I teamed up with Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and 11 of our Senate colleagues in introducing the Protect Our Presidents Act. Our legislation will enhance the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) protection for presidential nominees to the same level currently provided to a sitting U.S. president. It is clear action needs to be taken to provide additional protection to presidential nominees.

Improving Access to Comprehensive Care

This week during Sickle Cell Awareness Month, I re-introduced bipartisan legislation to improve access to comprehensive, high quality outpatient care for those living with sickle cell disease. Nearly 100,000 Americans have sickle cell disease – many of whom are left without access to consistent care. The Sickle Cell Disease Comprehensive Care Act would allow State Medicaid programs to provide comprehensive and coordinated care to patients with sickle cell disease through a health home model.

An Unbelievable Breach in Security 

Confirming what we already knew— the State Department Office of Inspector General released a report this week detailing how the Biden-Harris administration mismanaged the security clearance of former U.S. Special Envoy for Iran Robert Malley. Allowing him the ability to still participate in a classified conversation on one of our greatest adversaries in an unbelievable breach in security.

World Israel News: Republican senators lobby Latin America to vote against UN resolution ordering Israel out of Judea, Samaria

The United Nations General Assembly held hearings Tuesday on a draft resolution submitted by Riyad Mansour, the Palestinian Authority’s envoy to the U.N., demanding Israel vacate Judea and Samaria within one year, and calling on countries around the world to impose arms embargoes on the Jewish state.

The General Assembly is slated to vote on the draft resolution Wednesday, after the body debated the measure a day earlier.

If passed, the current version of the non-binding resolution would demand Israel remove not only its military presence in Judea and Samaria but also ethnically cleanse the area of its roughly half a million Jewish residents.

Republican senators protested the proposed resolution Tuesday, issuing a joint statement penned by Florida’s Marco Rubio, calling the measure a “absolute disgrace that rewards terrorism.”
