Bomb threats at HBCUs, but no arrests

with Jennifer Wadsworth | Assistant metro editor

Good morning! Here's a look at some of our latest headlines.

Comeback win for LSU

Kim Mulkey's Tigers earned their first NCAA Tournament victory since 2014. Here's the story from Scott Rabalais.

Bomb threats at HBCUs

Beginning in late January, a wave of bomb threats targeted historically Black colleges and universities, or HBCUs, across the United States. Many came on Feb. 1, the first day commemorating Black History Month. Almost a third of the 107 HBCUs were targeted, including Dillard University and Xavier University in New Orleans and Southern University in Baton Rouge. No explosives have been found in connection with the threats. But for students and faculty already juggling more than two years of pandemic-related stress, the threats have shattered the calm and comfort they had enjoyed on what are typically tight-knit campuses. Here's Marie Fazio with the story.

Lawmaker has change of heart about BREC

Bodi White, a state senator who tried to break up BREC last year, had nothing but good things to say about Baton Rouge's parks and rec system at a ribbon-cutting for the newly renovated fields of Central Sports Park. What did he have to say? And what changed his mind? Here's Terry Jones with the story.
