About the book
The Habsburg Empire existed for around 600 years and united many peoples, languages and cultures under its roof. The European Union also unites a wide variety of countries which, similar to the Habsburg monarchy, try to avoid conflicts, make compromises and, as best they can, reach joint decisions. Where are the similarities between the Habsburg Empire and the EU? Can these two constructs be compared at all? Caroline de Gruyter, who lived in Vienna for a few years, delves into the Habsburg past and brings forgotten stories back to light. One thing is certain: the EU can learn a lot from the Habsburg Empire. The Dutch journalist takes us on a journey through the past and shares interesting conversations with diplomats, politicians, officials - or simply with her own neighbours in Vienna. We are looking forward to your visit! Sincerely, Sarah Stoffaneller PS: Please also visit our website! *By attending this event, you consent to the publication of photographs, video and audio recordings that may be made during the event.*
