 | World Space Week World Space Week is an annual celebration of the achievements and benefits of space science and technology. It is held from October 4 to 10 every year, as declared by the United Nations in 1999. The dates commemorate two important milestones in space history: the launch of Sputnik 1, the first artificial satellite, on October 4, 1957, and the signing of the Outer Space Treaty, the international agreement that governs the peaceful use of outer space, on October 10, 1967. World Space Week aims to inspire people of all ages and backgrounds to learn about space, to support space exploration and development, and to appreciate the role of space in improving the human condition. The theme for World Space Week 2023 is **Space and Entrepreneurship**. This theme highlights the growing importance and influence of the commercial space sector and the opportunities for space entrepreneurs to create new products and services for governments and industries.  | Michael Lewis Michael Lewis grew up in New Orleans and remains deeply interested and involved in the city. He holds a bachelor's degree in art history from Princeton and a master's degree in economics from the London School of Economics. After attending the London School of Economics, he began a career on Wall Street during the 1980s as a bond salesman at Salomon Brothers. The experience prompted him to write his first book, Liar's Poker (1989). He lives in Berkeley, California, with his wife, Tabitha Soren, and their children. In 2009 he published Home Game: An Accidental Guide to Fatherhood, about his attempts to raise them. Check out his books here. |
