Here in Sydney, we've had a week of wild weather, like much of Eastern Australia. With another wet weekend ahead, it's the perfect time to curl up with a book, and we've got a suite of content to inspire you.

You may have seen the first episode of the new ABC TV series, Books That Made Us, where Claudia Karvan embarks on a literary journey to meet our most beloved writers, and explore how storytelling has shaped Australia.

There are lively conversations about the series taking place over on our ABC Book Club on Facebook.

Plus, a big congratulations to the newly announced winners of the Books That Made Us Youth Fiction Prize, presented by the ABC in collaboration with the Wheeler Centre and Copyright Agency. This prize hopes to encourage and upskill the next generation of Australian writers.

Finally, don't forget to check out The Bookshelf's series of hidden treasures from the archives: forgotten interviews with pioneering Australian women artists, in collaboration with the NGA's Know My Name initiative. Hear from the iconic Margaret Olley, painter Ivy Shore, ceramicist Gwyn Hanssen Pigott, modernist Grace Cossington Smith, sculptor and "bower bird" Rosalie Gascoigne, and metal-worker Mari Funaki, who helped put Australian jewellery on the map.
