Boris Johnson Apologizes to Israeli Politician |

Israel’s energy minister Karine Elharrar suffers from muscular dystrophy and uses a wheelchair for mobility. While she has clearly not allowed her disability stand in the way of launching a successful political career, one other thing did stand in her way this past week: The ability to attend the United Nations Climate Change Conference summit in Scotland. She was unable to participate in person due to the venue not being handicapped accessible. |
"I came to COP26 to meet my world counterparts and to advance a common battle against climate change," stated Karine Elharrar. "It is sad that the UN that advances accessibility to people with disabilities, in the year 2021, does not ensure accessibility to its events." After a global media tumult, Britain's Prime Minister Boris Johnson personally met with Israel's Energy Minister and apologized for the unfortunate incident. In what may be an indicator of Karine Elharrar's resilience and positivity, she commented: "Instead of dealing with green energy, with collaborations between countries in order to fight climate change, I promoted accessibility." |

Auschwitz-Era Prisoner Tattoo Stamps Auction |

A private auction house in Israel selling equipment allegedly used by Nazi guards to tattoo Jewish prisoners at Auschwitz has been canceled following a public uproar. The grim tattoo kit offering -- consisting of 14 stamps and interchangeable needles arranged as numbered shapes -- was billed as having been used on actual inmates at the Auschwitz death camp during World War II. |
The auction house described the lot as "a shocking and extremely rare museum item of unparalleled historical significance" and auctioneers appraised it being worth $12,000. More than 1 million Jewish prisoners were killed at Auschwitz, and it was one of the only concentration camps that tattooed inmates. "The trade of these items is morally unacceptable and only encourages the proliferation of counterfeits," said Dani Dayan, chairman of the Yad Vashem Holocaust Museum. "On principle, Yad Vashem opposes the existence of a market for Jewish or Nazi objects from the time of the Holocaust, and therefore does not purchase such items." A Tel Aviv District Court granted a request by elderly holocaust survivors to halt the auction and ordered the transaction to be postponed pending a future hearing. |

| | I am so grateful for this rewarding experience. When I hand a young boy or girl a food package, I can see their small eyes light up with joy. At the end of my shift, I will have encountered dozens of people who will touch my heart, make me smile, or give me something positive to reflect on. I feel a genuine sense of contentment and believe I am making the world into a better place by helping the less fortunate. The fact is, my volunteering experience at Feed Israel has been very inspiring and is transforming me into a more wholesome person, simply by doing acts of kindness each day. |

| Since the beginning of the pandemic we have provided meals for thousands of families impacted by the economic fallout, and expanded our distribution services to include the families of those who were impacted most, like school children and the elderly. |
